Here at Aichien the bonsai show season kicks off in October with the Nagoya Castle bonsai show being our first local event of the season.
I really enjoy this show for a number of reasons. First of all its in a great location. The castle grounds are beautiful and this time of year locals and tourists alike make their way to the castle for sight-seeing, picnics, and some good old-fashioned out-door quality time. Another good point about this show is that it has no pre-judging or qualification. So its accessible to anyone involved in the local bonsai scene from beginner to high-end collector. In my opinion, this is nice because it gives us a feeling of the full range of bonsai in and around the Nagoya area.
In this post I’ll share the show in its entirety so you can get a good sense of the range of bonsai. Unfortunately, I was not able to gather owner information on the trees. So I have no way to credit the bonsai, however I would if I could.
Here we go!
And a few from around the castle grounds…
Well that’s it. I’m all out of photos. Hopefully you enjoyed the show! If you’re ever in Nagoya during the beginning of October, be sure to stop by Nagoya Castle. Always a good experience.
The 2013 show can be seen here in a similar article I wrote last October.
Thanks for reading!
Until next time…
